The overall objective of this project is to achieve full compliance with EU and Bulgarian Regulations related to solid waste management and thus avoiding the potential environmental damages and risks from the existing landfills.

The specific objectives of the project are:
• Preparation of complete feasibility studies for the waste management systems in Burgas, Dobrich and Provadia regions including financial and cost-benefit analysis;
• Establishment of sustainable and affordable 20-year Investment Plans for Waste Management Development (IPsWMD) for all municipalities in each of the regions;
• Assistance in the establishment of the necessary institutional framework for the implementation of the IPsWMD;
• Preparation of ISPA application forms for investments;
• Assistance to the municipalities within each of the three regions in the updating of their Municipal Waste Management Programs in order to reflect the IPsWMD for the regions;
• Preparation of tender documents for detailed design, tendering and construction supervision of all investment components that would constitute part of the ISPA application forms for investment.

EPTISA Internacional from Spain is leading the project implementation in partnership with CES GmbH from Germany.

The duration of the project is 16 months.
